We all know that natural light is good for us. It’s so good for us, in fact, we should incorporate it into every room of our homes and offices. And there are plenty of great looking ways to accomplish it!
1. Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Adding a decorative mirror that faces a window or other natural light source will double the effect of the natural lighting in the room. The bigger the mirror and the light source, the more filling the effect will be. Two points of natural light are twice as good as one!
2. A New Coat of Paint
Dark colors absorb light. When painted on all four walls of a room, darker colors can make the entire space feel darker. Lighter colored walls will reflect more natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere. You can also look into changing the color of your flooring or ceiling.
3. Trim the Trees
One major problem may be that sunlight can’t get into the building, so make sure your landscaping doesn’t block natural light sources. Trimming bushes and tree branches may also create better views from your windows.
4. Try Something Different
If your rooms are separated with solid wooden doors, try replacing them with doors that have some glass. It will let sunlight flow freely through the interior, and If you need more privacy somewhere, you can always use frosted glass.
5. Open Up
Skylights are a great source of direct overhead sunlight, and the natural light that fills the spaces can completely change the look and feel of the spaces.
6. Reach for the Sky
Getting natural light into private spaces, like bedrooms or bathrooms, is easy–just place windows higher on the wall. This allows light to illuminate the room while maintaining comfort and privacy.
