Attachments Energy Rating Council (AERC) is an independent, public interest, non-profit organization whose mission is to rate, label and certify the energy performance of window attachments such as blinds, shades, and storm windows. Partially funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, AERC provides accurate and credible information about the energy performance of window attachments, which helps the public–including building owners, homeowners, architects and builders—make informed decisions when it comes to buying window attachment products.

National Fenestration Ratings Council (NFRC) is a non-profit organization that administers the only uniform, independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of windows, doors, skylights, and attachment products. Their goal is to provide fair, accurate, and reliable energy performance ratings.

With the exception of WinSert, which is tested and certified by AERC, all of the window series we manufacture are tested by an accredited NFRC lab. Passive House Institute US

Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) is a consulting and research firm working to further the implementation of Passive House standards and techniques nationwide. Passive House refers to a rigorous but voluntary standard for super energy efficient buildings. The standard focuses on passive solar design, super insulation, advanced window technology, air tightness, and ventilation.

American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA)

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) is an industry-leading third-party organization that is one of the most trusted sources for certifying window performance.  As a certified manufacturer, Alpen has all of our window types independently tested to ensure that they meet strict AAMA standards.  These tests provide homeowners and design professionals with a credible source that proves and validates our product performance and commitment to quality.
