AlpenGlass is a leader in advanced glazing solutions, specializing in custom thin triple- and quad-pane IGUs. With over 40 years of experience manufacturing lightweight, high-performance glass with suspended coated film, Alpen was the first in North America to commercialize thin glass for architectural use. To date, we have delivered millions of square feet of thin glass to the market.
- Thin triple and quad-pane glass represent the next evolution in IGUs, providing the same thermal performance as traditional triple and quad-pane glass but with significantly less weight and bulk. This simplifies installation, reduces the need for new frames, and lowers costs for builders and architects.
- Initially developed for smartphones and large-scale displays, Alpen adapted thin-glass technology (as thin as 0.5 mm) for architectural use. This innovation increases insulation—doubling R-values in some cases—without added thickness. AlpenGlass reduces heating and cooling costs, lowers carbon footprints, and has already proven reliable in millions of square feet installed across North America.

Thin glass (0.5mm – 1.3mm) is thinner than traditional float glass and is positioned in the middle of the assembly. By adding extra lites of thin glass, the convection cycle is interrupted, reducing heat transfer without compromising visual light transmittance or adding additional weight.

Inert gases significantly improve energy efficiency by filling the space between panes, reducing heat transfer. Alpen designs custom gas blends to meet specific performance targets, and our gas containment system ensures performance stability at varying elevations.
Argon: Inert, colorless gas that improves insulation and is cost-effective for widespread use.
Krypton: Denser noble gas offering superior insulation, ideal for thin IGUs or high-performance windows.
