Tyrol Edge and Contour: A New Era of Efficiency and Design Flexibility
April 14th, 2025
At Alpen High Performance Products, we always strive to push the boundaries of window technology, delivering products that combine exceptional energy efficiency and architectural beauty. Our latest innovations, Tyrol Edge and Tyrol Contour, take our already high-performance Tyrol uPVC window system to the next level. These new profiles offer slimmer frames, cleaner sightlines, and the thermal efficiency you need to meet or exceed even the most demanding building codes, including Passive House standards.

Elevating Expectations for Energy-Efficient Windows
In an era where building performance standards are rising and design expectations are higher than ever, we are proud to introduce two new window profiles that are engineered for maximum energy performance and elegant design, addressing the evolving challenges architects, builders, and developers face today.
CEO Andrew Zech explains, “Alpen's upgraded Tyrol line is North America's most advanced composite window. Combining uPVC with structural fiberglass, the new system delivers narrower sightlines, larger sizes, and – when glazed with Alpen’s advanced glass units – it ranks as the most energy efficient in the country.”
Why Tyrol Edge & Contour Are Needed Today
We know that your projects demand more than just a window. They need high-performance solutions that offer lasting value, beautiful design, and dependable durability. Tyrol Edge and Tyrol Contour build on Alpen's proven performance, offering a new level of design flexibility and ease of installation while maintaining our commitment to industry-leading efficiency.
By reducing frame weight by 30 to 50% while supporting the same large window sizes (up to 78.75" × 118"), these new profiles introduce streamlined handling without compromising strength or functionality. Enhanced with precision fusion-welded corners, multi-chamber insulation, and Alpen’s lightweight fiberglass-composite reinforcement system, Tyrol Edge and Contour reflect the evolution of high-performance window engineering.

Performance That Exceeds Expectations
Tyrol Edge & Contour are designed with high performance at their core to help architects, builders, and developers stay ahead of evolving codes and efficiency targets, from Passive House to net-zero construction. Here’s what sets them apart:
- Whole-window R-values up to R-11 (U-0.09), which meet or exceed Passive House and stretch code requirements. Optional quad-pane AlpenGlass IGUs deliver up to R-15 (U-0.067) center-of-glass R-values, offering two to five times the insulation of standard double-pane glass.
- Air infiltration as low as 0.01 CFM/sq. ft., far surpassing industry benchmarks for airtightness.
- Condensation resistance rated at 83, helping to prevent moisture issues and protect finishes and framing materials.
- Triple-sealed frames that reduce exterior noise and deliver acoustic insulation up to OITC 37 / STC 45 with optional acoustic glass packages.
- European-style tilt-turn functionality offers intuitive operation. One handle, two actions—tilts in for ventilation, swings in for full access.
Together, these features provide exceptional comfort, thermal performance, and sound control, all in a refined and easy-to-use system.

What’s New: Slimmer, Sleeker, Stronger
Tyrol Edge and Contour introduce several upgrades:
- Slimmer Frames: Designed for a refined, modern appearance with maximized glass area for increased daylighting and views.
- Even Lighter Construction: Material innovation in fiberglass-composite structures and multi-pane IGUs cuts frame weight by 30% to 50% compared to competitive systems, without sacrificing strength and spans.
- Refined Build Quality: Feature the most advanced concealed hinges on the market for smoother function and seamless, fusion-welded miter corners.
- Enhanced Ergonomics: Adjusted handle heights and optional "anti-slam" brake stays improve day-to-day usability, safety, and durability.
- Profile Variety:
- Tyrol Edge features sharp, angular corners for a contemporary look.
- Tyrol Contour offers a softer profile for more traditional aesthetics while delivering top-tier energy performance.
Proudly Fabricated in America: Shorter Lead Times, Greater Confidence
Unlike many European-style windows, Tyrol Edge and Contour are manufactured in Colorado, with local service and support. Alpen’s U.S.-based team offers:
- In-house technical and consulative design support with decades of high-performance glazing experience.
- Rapid fulfillment and tailored solutions for maximum project flexibility.
- Proven code compliance with U.S. structural and energy performance standards.
This domestic footprint means faster turnaround and less risk of supply chain delays—without sacrificing quality or performance.
The Bottom Line: Energy-Efficient Windows Without Compromise
Tyrol Edge & Contour offer the best of both worlds. They combine advanced material science, beautiful design, and high-performance glazing into a lightweight uPVC system that delivers serious thermal and acoustic results.
Whether you're designing for code compliance or creating future-forward spaces, Tyrol Edge and Contour are engineered to help you succeed. These profiles are the next step in the Tyrol story - refining and elevating a platform already trusted by teams across the country.
