We are proud to announce that the Attachments Energy Rating Council (AERC) has officially certified and listed the WinSert🄬 line of high performance secondary window inserts from Alpen in its certified product database. The AERC is similar to the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), discussed here, but with a specific focus on window attachments, such as blinds, shades, and storm windows.
The WinSert line stands apart from other AERC certified products with the lowest U-factor values in the commercial secondary window category, rated as low as 0.16. (Don’t forget–a lower U-factor means that it is more insulating.) WinSert also demonstrated a significant reduction in air leakage for the baseline single- and double-pane windows, dropping from 2.0 cfm/ft2 to 0.06 cfm/ft2.
