On March 8th, we were honored to host Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm at Alpen’s Headquarters in Louisville, CO.

Following her tour of our facility, Secretary Granholm announced $425 million in funding as part of the Department of Energy’s Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling grant program. This funding is targeted towards supporting small and medium-sized businesses like ours, to expand operations and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

With the support of the Department of Energy, we are poised to increase our window production tenfold, driving economic growth and creating new opportunities for our local community.

Alpen was selected for negotiation to receive a grant of nearly $6 million, which will fund a factory expansion and create roughly 100 new jobs. “This investment will allow us to ramp up production of triple- and quadruple-pane insulated glass units, providing residential and commercial consumers with more affordable, energy-efficient window options,” said Zech.

Secretary Granholm emphasized the importance of reducing energy costs for consumers, echoing our mission to democratize access to high-performance windows. The grants, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, underscore the government’s commitment to supporting businesses in communities affected by coal industry closures.

It also marked a significant milestone in our journey as a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient windows and doors. We are proud to be at the forefront of this movement, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Department of Energy to build a brighter, greener future for all.
